Following the joint proposals presented by the governments of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), Bach said he "warmly" welcomes "the joint proposals by the governments of the ROK and DPRK, which have been applauded by so many other governments worldwide".

Dubbed the "army of beauties" in South Korea, the young North Korean women - mostly in their late teens or early 20s - have attracted huge publicity whenever they have appeared in the South. They're having talks with North Korea. The two sides have also agreed to hold military talks, with officials from both countries expressing a willingness to solve existing problems and reduce tensions through cooperation.

In a letter addressed to North Korean representative Ri Son Gwon on Friday, South Korea's Ministry of Unification (MoU) proposed a high level meeting on January 15 to discuss the DPRK's participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, according to the MoU spokesperson's office.

Kim, in a speech last week, said the "nuclear button is always on my desk", prompting Trump to respond in a tweet that his nuclear button is "a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

While Pyongyang has opened up to Seoul since leader Kim Jong-un's New Year's Day offer to participate at PyeongChang 2018, North Korea remains openly committed to nukes and hostile to the U.S. - as demonstrated by Kim's repeated threats to strike the American mainland.

At issue is how to transport and accommodate what appears to be a large-scale North Korean delegation during the quadrennial event without going against sanctions that block exchanges with the reclusive regime.

"As former nuclear launch control officers, it was our job to fire nuclear missiles if the president so directed".

Talks of a third summit flared again Wednesday, when South Korea's current liberal President Moon Jae-in said he's willing to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un if the success of the meeting is guaranteed. "Had a lot of good comment", he said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House. It included an agreement that North Korea would send a government delegation, athletes, a fan group, artists, official observers, a taekwondo team, and reporters, while the South would provide the necessary accommodation for the visitors. Throughout their history, North Korea has consistently boasted of their "independence" in the face of South Korea's 'dependence' on the United States. The accord stipulates the two will actively cooperate in the Olympics to "enhance the prestige of the Korean people".

As the most visible illustration of this connection in goals and aspirations between the Olympic movement and the United Nations, the International Olympic Committee decided, starting from 1998, to fly the United Nations flag at all competition sites of the Olympic Games.

With their tight choreography - sometimes using props such as fans - the cheerleaders were lavished with attention as they sang and danced in the stands.

The result of Tuesday's talks was a joint statement from the two Koreas, which pledged further dialogue on the DPRK's participation in the upcoming PyeongChang Olympics, as well as on military and diplomatic issues.
