He said that Bannon's title of "chief strategist" was a "misnomer at best", as the Trump agenda was set long before Bannon joined the campaign. "They had a very short conversation, but he never interviewed the president about the book".

Trump has said the book is full of lies. "He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job". Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone.

The bookstore was keeping a tally of all the calls they had received asking for the book.

Michael Wolff's book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", was released Friday. The publisher moved up the release by four days. In response to similar questions during Wednesday's briefing, she tried to deflect concerns and said Americans should be worried instead about the mental fitness of North Korea's Kim Jong Un.

Excerpts from Michael Wolff's book, repeated often in the liberal media, say sources close to the president claim he is forgetful and doesn't have the intellectual capacity to grasp the complex policy and politics of being president.

"And that Steve Bannon turned on his friend and boss Donald Trump so quickly".

While Wolff stands by his reporting, Trump and his associates are not the only ones questioning the author's veracity.

On Friday night, President Trump angrily tweeted about the book.

"Of course I've met him and we discussed the Middle East peace process. I don't know, but it certainly was not off the record". People called Trump a "moron" and an "idiot", according to Wolff.

"I can see several places in the book that are wrong".

"I'm becoming the poster boy for taking down Donald Trump".

White House aides have depicted the book as a work of fiction.

Wolff pushed back against White House accusations that he wasn't granted access to President Trump and various staffers.

"Why? You've already done enough for him". Rebekah Mercer, the billionaire GOP donor and Breitbart co-owner, issued a statement Thursday distancing her family from Bannon. Bannon was quoted as describing a June 2016 meeting between a Russian lawyer and top Trump campaign officials - including the president's son Donald Jr. and son-in-law Jared Kushner - as "treasonous" and "unpatriotic".
