President Trump's day is largely spent unstructured and with lots of'executive time

Steve Bannon, former chief strategist to President Trump, has stepped down from Breitbart, the far-right website he returned to over the summer as executive chairman after being ousted from the White House.

But now, in the wake of explosive quotes about Trump's family included in journalist Michael Wolff's new book Fire and Fury, Bannon is being rejected by his former allies and supporters.

His reward was a key job inside the White House where, as chief strategist, he was seen as stoking the nationalist flame of Mr Trump's presidency.

Bannon is the first high-profile casual of Michael Wolff's tell-all book, Fire and Fury, about the odd actions and turns of Trump's casualty.

In his new year address last week, Mr Kim said he had a "nuclear button" that could target weapons at anywhere in the USA, and Mr Trump responded that he had a much bigger and more powerful "nuclear button".

"Steve is a valued part of our legacy, and we will always be grateful for his contributions, and what he has helped us to accomplish." .

Despite the setback, Bannon has told confidants that he believes Trump, after a cooling-off period, will again seek his counsel, noting that the president often maintains contact with aides he has fired.

Although Bannon continued to chair Breitbart's editorial meetings and host its satellite-radio program, Mercer's comments appeared to signal his end, people at the media company said.

He also denied that a widely shared quote in which Bannon appeared to suggest that Donald Trump Jr. was treasonous for taking a meeting with a Russian attorney was actually directed at the president's son.

The influential Mercer billionaire family, major backers of Breitbart and Bannon cut off all contact with Bannon after release of passages of the book. Breitbart's Jewish employees said he made sure they were able to observe Shabbat and Jewish holidays.

Despite this, the website has been popular among the right and the outlet strongly supported Trump as he ran for president.

Bannon's post-White House downfall has been swift and severe.

"In October", Sherman wrote, "Bannon called an adviser and said he would consider running for president if Trump doesn't run for re-election in 2020".

Nevertheless, Breitbart soared under Bannon, reaching 37 million unique readers a month before Trump upset Hillary Clinton to win the 2016 election.

"Steve was incredibly helpful on this book, and his insights are penetrating, and I don't feel great about putting him in what seems obviously a hard position".
