House Republicans, joined by many Democrats, swiftly crushed a Democratic bid on Wednesday to force a vote on impeaching President Donald Trump.

House minority leader Nancy Pelosi has advised Democrats to exercise caution and wait until sufficient evidence that Trump committed an impeachable offense turns up.

"Legitimate questions have been raised about his fitness to lead this nation", Pelosi and Hoyer continued.

"I love my country", Representative Al Green wrote in a letter to colleagues. The special counsel's investigation is moving forward as well, and those inquiries should be allowed to continue.

House GOP leaders are expected to reject the measure, but Green can still force a procedural vote that will effectively serve as the first vote in Congress on impeaching Trump.

Green's resolution is expected to fail, given widespread opposition among Republicans and most Democrats.

"Colorado families deserve to have confidence in our elected leaders and this is one step toward ensuring our government remains accountable to the people.I've never hesitated to fight for our values as a representative, and I won't hesitate to fight for them as your governor". "May everyone vote their conscience knowing that history will judge us all". The resolution accuses Trump of "high misdemeanor", worthy of removal from office.

"In his capacity as president of the United States, unmindful of the high duties of his high office and the dignity and proprieties thereof and of the harmony and courtesies necessary for stability within the society of the United States, Donald John Trump has, with his statements, done more than incite individuals and groups of Americans, more than insult individuals and groups of Americans".

"We ought to let Mr. Mueller complete his full investigation rather than engage in what would essentially be a public relations stunt", said Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich). "I will them that it's about democracy". "It is premature", Schumer told The Daily Beast in November.
