Real Madrid are reportedly very keen on signing Timo Werner, but are "concerned" because of a bizarre health issue.

Reports claimed that Real were set to launch a bid in either in the January transfer window or next summer, but Rangnick has made it clear the talented youngster is not for sale. Werner admitted in Die Welt that the possibility of Real Madrid and other clubs watching his progress was flattering but Rangnick scoffed at the suggestion that his striker would be leaving: "I don't take these rumours seriously at all and neither does our coach [Ralph Hassenhüttel]", he said. Currently, the Spanish Giants are lagging behind Barcelona by 8 points.

"In winter nor in summer, we will keep Timo Werner with us", Rangnick, who recently signed a new contract at Leipzig, is quoted by FourFourTwo as saying. According to Spanish publication Marca, Los Blancos are in need of a striker in January, and Werner is the man they have turn their attentions to. His goal scoring prowess is remarkable for someone so young, and a move to Real Madrid could accelerate his career.

He said: "Of course I must honestly say that I might have gone to Bayern if Munich had knocked on my door in front of RB Leipzig". The German has scored 28 goals in 42 league appearances, taking him to Bundesliga prominence.

Werner also said he is in no hurry to make a move away from the Red Bull Arena.

Also, Werner finished the last season of Bundesliga with an impressive goal tally, rocketing his club to the position of runners-up.
