Benzema: Ronaldo is more selfish than me

Benzema not expecting France chance with Deschamps

"Ferguson told me that I will only sign if he couldn't get Benzema".

Benzema's extended absence means he is yet to play alongside the prodigiously talented Kylian Mbappe, something he wishes had happened at Real Madrid this season.

Benzema has scored nearly 200 goals across all competitions for Real Madrid.

He has since demanded explanations from Deschamps that have not been forthcoming, and with the France coach having recently extended his contract to 2020 after clinching a place at next summer's World Cup, Benzema, 29, is all but resigned to his worldwide exile being extended.

Karim Benzema does not think he has a chance of ending his France exile as long as Didier Deschamps remains coach.

"So I was pleading with Benzema to go to Real Madrid, so thank you to him".

"I don't have any problem in any case".

Benzema said: "Mourinho helped me a lot. He is someone I respect, but he turned his back on me, it's hurtful".

Deschamps' freezing out of Benzema is in stark contrast to the attitude of Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who has maintained the ex-Lyon forward as part of his first-choice front line.

"I may be timid but if you are going to laugh at me then I will react".

In 2009, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson tried to strengthen United's attacking line by signing the promising French talent, Benzema, but the player chose to join Madrid, so Ferguson made a decision to sign Owen from Newcastle United. I'm shy but if you make fun of me, I'll be straight.

Ben Arfa earned his move to Les Parisians two years ago, after scoring 18 goals in 34 matches for Nice.

Speaking to Canal+, he said: 'I've actually got something to thank Benzema for, he might not know but I wouldn't have gone to Manchester United if it wasn't for him.

One would think that Benzema could surely aid France in their bid to win the World Cup in Russian Federation next year, too.
