Huawei Mate 10 launch

Today, the company has officially unveiled two new smartphones in the Mate series called Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate 10 Porsche Design at an event held in Munich, Germany. That being said, the Porsche Design partnership is arguably more about creating a halo effect around Huawei's smartphones, as opposed to shifting PD-branded phones in large numbers. Oh, and a $1500 price tag.

We're expecting the Huawei Mate 10 to feature 64GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM. The smartphone will compete directly with the big units in the market. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is priced at EUR 699 (roughly Rs. 53,400), and will go on sale from November in several countries including Australia, Singapore, Spain and Mexico. The other notable difference is that the Mate 10 comes with a 3.5MM headphone jack whereas the Mate 10 Pro ditches it completely. Pricing for the United States hasn't been announced yet, but we do know that only the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is set to launch in the US.

Both phones feature a 4,000 mAh battery, which is bigger than anything we've seen on a consumer flagship phone so far, though it's worth remembering that battery life ultimately depends on the efficiency of the internal components, the power draw of the screen, and various other factors as well the size of the battery itself. Huawei's proprietary fast charging technology is available here (SuperCharge), and Huawei says that you can charge up the Mate 10 Pro from 0 to 58 percent in only 30 minutes.

Most excitingly, the phone is expected to be fully bezel-less. The Mate 10 also boasts cameras with high-grade Leica f1.6 aperture lenses.

And Huawei has trained the camera with 100 million images which helps get the perfect picture in different lighting and environments.

Still, as promising as the Huawei Mate 10 sounds, it's the Huawei Mate 10 Pro version that should really get pulses racing. While the Mate 10 comes with Cat.16 LTE modem, the Mate 10 Pro features even more advanced Cat.18 LTE modem and offers 1.2Gbps download speeds. There's an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Huawei's manufacturer HiSilicone, have claimed that their Kirin 970 CPU will be able to compete with the likes of Qualcomm and Samsung's own Exynos chips.

The slightly thicker bezels of the Mate 10 results in the phone having its fingerprint scanner in front instead of below the dual rear cameras like the Mate 10 Pro.

The Huawei Mate 10 features a 5.9-inch QHD (2560x1440 pixels) LCD display which the company calls FullView thanks to the small forehead and chin. Both the Huawei Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro run Android Oreo, overlaid with Huawei's Emotion UI 8.0. The Mate 10 Pro measures 154.2 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm and weighs 178 grams. According to Huawei, it's good for around 25 hours of calls or 22 hours of video playback, which is impressive on paper. The smartphones come in a Blue, Pink Gold, Black, and a Champagne Gold color. It will be able to detect contents of an image really fast, and it will also be able to optimize your device for long-term usage using AI. The Mate 10 has support for Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C port.
