It's reported Real would prefer to only offer Bale as part of the deal, but his injury record is thought to have "decreased his value significantly".

The Argentine coach's effusive praise suggests that Tottenham are not likely to part willingly with the unerringly clinical striker.

And it appears the Spanish media has had enough as rumours begin to circulate once again that the 28-year-old could be a Manchester United player by the time the 2018/19 season comes around.

Such praise has been well earned by Kane, who was recently also nominated for the Ballon d'Or.

Only Bale and Benzema would be included in an initial offer, according to the report.

In the meantime, the international break has allowed Zidane and his staff to nurse Karim Benzema, Marcelo and Theo Hernandez back to health, with all three participating in training this week and ready to add some fresh options to the Real boss' squad for a run of five games in two weeks.

Indeed, Manchester United boss Mourinho admitted that the player himself wasn't open to a move to Old Trafford at this point in his career despite relentless talk of a return to the Premier League. On the one hand, Portugal and France both qualified for Russia as group winners, sparing Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane from the European playoffs.

Playing on the right for Real as a possible reason for his injuries: "I remember talking to Gareth a while ago about the way he hits the ball with the outside of his left foot".

Swapping Bale for the Englishman would make perfect sense.

"I believe the BBC - Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale - has a lot of problems now", he said.

It is quite surprising to see that Madrid would be ready to let go of three of their biggest players in recent history.

It's not made clear in the report whether this proposed deal would take place in January or wait until the end of the season but obviously Bale would be an exciting addition if United do end up signing him.

"If you are less than 100 per cent physically fit, it becomes even harder".
