A Texas man was arrested after his 3-year-old daughter vanished when he allegedly forced her to stand outside as punishment for not drinking her milk, according to KTVT.

Mathews went outside about 15 minutes later to check on her, but Sherin was gone, the affidavit states. He later told detectives he knew coyotes were seen in the area where he left his daughter.

"Why was the last sighting at 3 o'clock and the parents not call us until after 8 a.m.?" The charge is abandoning or endangering a child.

He was released Sunday after posting his $250,000 bond.

The small girl, who was last seen wearing black leggings with a pink shirt and pink sandals, has not been seen since then.

The Richardson Police Department has stated that Sherin suffers from developmental issues and is limited regarding her verbal communication skills, reports KSAT 12.

NBC DFW reports (http://bit.ly/2fVjx2Q) that CPS says they have had "contact" with the Mathews family before, but "details are confidential".

The father did not notify the police that his daughter was missing until about five hours later, police said, adding that the delay in reporting the matter "is certainly concerning to us". Meanwhile, little Sherin Mathews is still missing.

The Richardson Police Department are looking for a missing 3-year-old.

Sergeant Kevin Perlich said officers had been going door-to-door and were using police dogs to try and find the young girl.

Sherin is described as 3-feet tall and 22 pounds with black hair.

Members of the Emmanuel Bible Chapel are aiding in the search for Sherin, having scoured a field and railroad tracks near the family's home. About a year and a half ago, the couple announced they adopted a little girl from India. Authorities have issued an amber warning.
