The Milwaukee Brewers were one pitch away from slashing the Chicago Cubs' lead in the National League Central.

Milwaukee's highlight of the night came on back-to-back home runs for the Crew thanks to Stephan Vogt and Brett Phillips in the second inning. The Brewers were one strike from a 3-2 victory until Javier Baez hit an RBI single. Shortstop Addison Russell appeared to hold the tag as Sogard's foot lifted off second for a split-second, and the call was confirmed on review. Carl Edwards Jr. (5-4) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Jeremy Jeffress blew the save in the ninth and Oliver Drake took the loss in the 10th for Milwaukee.
