After unveiling a Nintendo Switch version of its open-world high fantasy role-playing game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim", publisher Bethesda Softworks has committed two more games to the popular console.

The only bad news is that Doom Switch Edition won't come with the SnapMap level editor, which lets fans create and share their own maps.

Doom will release for the Nintendo Switch this holiday season.

It's already targeting an October 27 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, and will now also release on the Switch sometime in 2018.

This does not imply that the multiplayer will not arrive on Nintendo Switch, as it can be downloaded directly to the console for free. They're also the first big FPS games to land on the console, so there's a lot riding on their release for Nintendo.

Bethesda dropped some huge announcements during this week's Nintendo Direct conference...

In case you forgot, SnapMap was a feature that allowed you to build custom multiplayer maps within the game, which you could then share with others. Doom's multiplayer update will take up extra hard drive space that some Switch owners may not have, but it may be time to invest in additional storage anyway.

Snipperclips Plus: Cut it out, together! is a new version of the original puzzle game, featuring 30+ new stages and more. It's good to see that Bethesda is supporting Nintendo Switch - at the same presentation - Nintendo and Bethesda announced the exact release date of Skyrim for Nintendo Switch.

Doom on Switch will be the first game to take advantage of id Software and Zenimax's proprietary idTech 6 engine, which was developed for the creation of the game.

After all, who would have imagined that a game like Doom would land on the Switch?
