I've never been especially enamoured with Samsung's Galaxy range, but the sleek and sexy S7 Edge, and now its inevitable evolution as the S8 may just sway me. The Samsung Galaxy S8 also improves the hardware of the lineup.
The S8 Galaxy versions were notoriously thinner and comes with more high resolution as compared to its predecessors and competitors, Buzzfeed observed.
The first security measure on the Galaxy S8 - apart from the standard pattern, password, and PIN code - is not a new one, which is IRIS detection. Both Galaxy S8 smartphones are up for pre-order now and come in the colors Midnight Black, Gray Orchid and Arctic Silver. Interestingly, those going with the Microsoft Edition will now have three virtual assistants - Bixby, Google Assistant and Cortana.
This is something that can be fixed with software before the phone actually makes it into users' hands, but it's concerning that Samsung allowed a feature this easily fooled to appear at the launch.
There are two ways to take a screenshot on Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. The basic edition of the S8 will ship with Word, Excel and several other Office apps installed. The Microsoft features will be enabled once the user unboxes the phone and connects to a Wi-Fi network, apparently. Both the phones have a 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage on board.
Some might be disappointed about the camera on the Galaxy S8. It will also run Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box.
As of now, the only units you can find out there are meant for reviews and so far, there are a bunch of interesting stuff we are gradually finding out about the phones. But a video released Wednesday shows it may not be as safe as you'd hope. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is Samsung's answer to the Note 7 issue from past year so they went all out for people to move on from that debacle and focus on the latest one.
